3.1 Overview 概要
辨識處理書目資料中使用者有興趣的
The entities that have been defined for this study represent the key objects of interest to users of bibliographic data.
實體分為三組
The entities have been divided into three groups.
1. 跟產品的知識跟藝術性有關係
The first group comprises the products of intellectual or artistic endeavour that are named or described in bibliographic records: work, expression, manifestation, and item.
2. 對產品有所負責的關係(典藏有關係)
The second group comprises those entities responsible for the intellectual or artistic content, the physical production and dissemination, or the custodianship of such products: person and corporate body.
3. 跟知性和藝術性內涵有關係
The third group comprises an additional set of entities that serve as the subjects of intellectual or artistic endeavour: concept, object, event, and place.
3.1.1 Group 1 Entities: Work, Expression, Manifestation, Item
第一組實體：代表知識與藝術創作產品中用戶關心的不同方面
對實體的定義：
反映知識或藝術的內容 reflect intellectual or artistic content
1. 作品 work (a distinct intellectual or artistic creation)
2. 內容表達 expression (the intellectual or artistic realization of a work)
反映呈現的形式 reflect physical form
3. 載體表現 manifestation (the physical embodiment of an expression of a work)
4. 單件 item (a single exemplar of a manifestation)
實體間的關係：
單箭頭：一對一
雙箭頭：一對多
說明：
1. 一部作品可以通過一個或多個內容表達來實現，一個內容表達只能實現一部作品
Ex:一個作品會有好幾個版本
2. 一個內容表達可以體現一個或多個載體表現，一個載體表現可以體現一個或多個內容表達
3. 一個載體表現可以代表一個或多個單件，一個單件只能代表一個載體表現
Ex:一個作品會有好幾個版本

3.2.1 work 作品
作品：獨有的知識或藝術的創作 a distinct intellectual or artistic creation
1. 作品是一個抽象的實體；沒有一個單獨的物質對象可以對應為作品。
我們通過作品的單獨實現或內容表達來識別作品，但作品本身只存在於作品不同內容表達之間的共性內容之中。
2. 早期文本修訂或更新在內的不同文本都只是簡單的看作同一作品的內容表達。
同樣，已有文本的簡編本或增編本，或者音樂作品的附加部分或伴奏都作為同一作品的不同內容表達。
不同語種的譯本、音樂的編曲與改編曲、電影的配音或字幕版本也只是簡單的作為同一原始作品的不同內容表達。

3.2.2 Expression 內容表達
內容表達：以字母—數字、音樂或舞蹈標記、聲音、圖像、實物、運動等形式，或者這些形式的任何組合所表達的一部作品的知識或藝術的實現。
the intellectual or artistic realization of a work in the form of alpha-numeric, musical, or choreographic notation, sound, image, object, movement, etc., or any combination of such forms.
1. 表達一部作品的知識規範或工具的變化會形成新的內容表達。如果文字有了修訂或更改，產生的內容表達被看作是新的內容表達。諸如拼音和標點的糾正等次要的變化，可以被視為同一內容表達內的變體。

3.2.3 Manifestation 載體表現
載體表現：一部作品的內容表達的物理體現 the physical embodiment of an expression of a work.
1. 涵蓋範圍的文獻類型：手稿、圖書、期刊、地圖、海報、錄音、電影、錄像、CD-ROM、多媒體配套資料等。作為實體，載體表現代表在知識內容與物理形式方面均具有相同特徵的所有物理對象。
2. 生產過程涉及影響知識或藝術內容的修改、增添、刪除等，其結果就是產生體現作品新的內容表達的一個新的載體表現。

3.2.4 Item 單件
單件：一種載體表現的單一樣本 a single exemplar of a manifestation.
1. 單件是一個具體的實體。
在許多場合是一個單獨的物理對象(例如：單卷單行出版物的一個複本、一盒單獨的錄音帶等)。
但在有些場合，定義為單件的實體包括多個物理對象(例如：裝訂成兩卷發行的一部單行出版物、以3張光碟發行的一部錄音作品等)。
